Pressure points are created when soft skin tissue is pressed between the bones and the conventional mattress surface. Blood flow is restricted at these points and one has to keep moving or turning to avoid these pressure points from being created. Viscoelastic foams drastically reduce the formation of these pressure points and help enhance the flow of blood. During sleep we toss & turn more than 60 times on a conventional mattress, on a viscoelastic foam mattress it is reduced by over 50%. This results in extended deep sleep periods vital for re-generation, to keep you fit and recharged for the next day. Viscoelastic foam mattresses are used extensively in hospitals, mainly to prevent pressure ulcers. |
The human back is curved, or ‘S’ shaped. That’s the reason why your car seat or office chair is considered orthopedic when it is curved and holds the spine in the natural ‘S’ shape. Viscoelastic foam mattresses create a mould to support the body, in effect they support the spine in the natural ‘S’ shape while sleeping on the back. Similarly when we sleep towards the side, the hips and the shoulders need to sink into the mattress to allow the spine to lie horizontal with the mattress surface. Different body parts have different weights, the hip and shoulders are heavier than the legs and hands. Viscoelastic foams mould using both pressure and temperature, that’s why they can support all body parts, light or heavy. |

Viscoelastic foam mattresses greatly help in reducing backaches & neck pains and are recommended as a supportive therapy by physicians & chiropractors world over. Because it does not exert counter pressure, it helps those who are unable to sleep properly due to pains and helps reduce swellings by promoting increased blood flow. Persons experiencing joint pains, accident related pains, arthritis, sciatica or those suffering from neuro or blood flow problems find good relief and are able to sleep much more comfortably than on conventional coir or spring mattresses. Those who are bed ridden for longer periods of time are recommended to use these mattresses to prevent bed sores. |
